I originally wrote this post, two years ago.
At first, I updated it and put it on my Facebook page.
Then I realized this subject of Civil Rights; is so important and now is the time to get the information to people, that I should re-post it.
I’ve been updating for a week. Had to share.

Since I Love Music, Literature And Art, It was no hardship (detailed, as it is) and was, very edifying, to write this.
The more I researched; the more enthralled, I got.
Please enjoy and take, share all the fabulous links, videos, etc I found in my journey. I write to try and help people. That’s the only reason I write. So please take and use. I wrote it, for you all.

Addendum Nowadays we cannot imagine; a 15 year old, who hardly knew anything, about the Civil War and slavery, in the United States. (1965)
I’d read about the Greeks, Romans and other ancient cultures having slaves. But they never taught about the Civil War, in my South New Jersey, upper middle class, grammar school. They called it a “Progressive School” the emphasis was on Math And Literature.
The only history I remember, was about, “The Revolutionary War.” (and I was an A and B, student)
Regarding the “Revolutionary War,” I could quote facts.
We visited Valley Forge. We were told how Washington’s Troops froze and starved.
But: Civil War, nothing.
I learned a little about Civil Rights from my Mother and leaders like Dr King. But somewhere, I missed the entire civil war in my grammar school-8th grade education.
I learned everything I knew about the Civil War, from the film, “Gone With The Wind.” It was re-playing in a local movie theater.
Then when I was older in 1977, “Roots” premiered on television. (I cried from the beginning to end of that movie). I saw Roots The Next Generations also.
Until I moved back to North NJ, age 14, the only African American people I ever met, were the men who used to push the “Rolling Chairs” on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk (1950’s). Even as a child I realized how hard they worked, walking from one end of the Boardwalk, to the other all day, night.
I heard about “stereotyping” back in College in the 1980’s. Racial, Gender, all stereotypes, harmful, Not only to the self esteem of those stereotyped, but harms those uneducated enough to be influenced by them. We also learned about that terrible film, birth of a nation, in media class. I had the best Media Teacher Anywhere! I saw a few clips of that movie somewhere a few years ago. For sure; there’s good reason for it’s being banned!
